Again- Nothing is set in stone yet, this is just a random scene that I’ve written for the book so far and it prob won’t make any sense unless you know what the book is about but I’ll post more on that later….. Stay tuned!
Chloe still looked beautiful even though black traces of her makeup were embedded across her porcelain skin. Her eyes were not as bright as they usually were, and looked worn and older as though something worse was about to be known.
“You must think I’m pretty stupid huh?” She asked, her voice breaking as she tried not to sob.
Evey tried to look away and pretend she wasn’t watching her. “Not at all. You have every right to be upset about what happened back there.” She said coolly.
“Yeah well…. You must think I’m a total train wreck. My reputation is really on the rocks…. I just never thought life would get so shitty, you know?” She wiped away a stream of colors and moisture with her sleeve.
“Chloe, He’s just some jock idiot, You know? You can get any guy. I mean, You could even start dating college boys If you-.”
Chloe choked a laugh and shook her head. “Evie, You don’t get it! You’re not from around here….. I mean this really is the end of the world for me… You don’t know….You don’t get it here. Things like this just don’t die. Peoples’ memories are forever. And that’s all that really matters. ”
Evie became very confused. “What are you talking about? Zach is just ‘some guy’ trust me there will be more.”
“Evie…. I’m….. I…… “ She shook her head in disappointment. “I… I can’t tell you. But it’s a big deal. I just can’t do it right now.” She finished weakly.
Evie was still confused. “Hey, it’s going to be okay. It will just take some time to heal. But I promise it won’t be anything too scarring. You’re young I mean we’re like barely sort-of almost adults. ”
Chloe shook her head. Still crying. And driving faster than usual.
“Look, do you want me to drive? We could go get some ice cream or something.” Evie nervously suggested.
Chloe’s expression remained the same. It was quiet for several minutes. The car started down the dark canyon. Lights from houses and families were distant and buried beneath the thick, icy fog.
“You know every time I pass this hill I think about something….” Chloe began. “I think about what would happen if the car went down that hill…..”
Evie quickly became alarmed at her comment. “What… what do you mean? We would die.” Taking a quick glance down the edge.
Her face became more lively and entrancing as she spoke. “I mean would it be quick?… Would it be better or poetic even? Would it be in slow motion or would I feel more alive than I’ve ever felt at the end?… It could be like the beginning of something I don’t even know about?”
Her breathing became uneven as though her brain was processing the thought more and more. “It would just take one little turn then it would all fade away to nothing, or something….. I mean, I don’t know but, it’s the unknown and it has got to be a lot better and easier than where we are… People could understand that wouldn’t they?” She spoke as though it were a monologue that no one but the audience of a prominent play were supposed to overhear. The kind of thoughts that no one wants to speak, hear, and especially deal with.
